Announcement follows creation of 200 new jobs

Jonathan Sutcliffe, claims director, Hastings Insurance Services

Hastings Insurance Services has appointed Paul Whymark as its new operations director and Jonathan Sutcliffe as its new claims director. Both roles are new posts for the company, which has recently outlined its plans for considerable growth, and is aiming to treble in size by 2020.  

Whymark joins Hastings from his former role as head of affinity operations at RSA, while Sutcliffe joins Hastings from ACE’s Paris office where he was claims director, continental Europe.

Hastings Retail managing director Toby van der Meer said: “Paul brings a wealth of experience and a real passion for delivering great straightforward customer service through people. We’re excited to have him on board as we continue our growth story and shake up the industry by offering consumers better deals.” 

Sutcliffe has more than two decades of claims experience in commercial property, casualty, personal lines and motor with previous roles in Fusion Insurance Services/Novea Syndicates and Zurich. He will report directly to Hastings Insurance Services managing director Michael Lee.

Lee said: “We are delighted Jonathan is joining the team, he is adept at building large claims operations which dovetails neatly with our future growth plans.”    

The announcement comes soon after the company announced the creation of 200 new jobs over the next 12 months, and a new fast-track graduate scheme.
