Customer numbers grow by more than a fifth over the first nine months of 2014
Hastings has reported profit before tax of £51.2m for the first nine months of 2014, up 3.4% on the same period last year.
This improved performance was driven by a 20% increase in gross written premium to £359.8m and a 22% growth in customers to 1.65 million.
Hastings chief executive Gary Hoffman said: “Our business continues to go from strength to strength as we focus on getting it right for our customers, which is key to our success. By providing refreshingly straightforward insurance and strong underwriting discipline, we have seen a steady growth in customer numbers.
“Looking ahead, we continue to see significant market opportunities and are confident that through combining the expertise of our people with our agile business model, we can take advantage of these and continue to deliver sustainable long-term growth.”
