Matthew Fairfield departs to pursue other opportunities

Thibauld Hervy and Philippe Vezio have been named joint chief executives of insurer HCC Global, replacing departing boss Matthew Fairfield.

Fairfield’s last day at the firm will be July 31.

“The opportunities in the world marketplace are extraordinary and I want to pursue them,” Fairfield told Insurance Times.

HCC Global is a division of US insurance group HCC Insurance Holdings.

Hervy and Vezio have been with HCC Global and its predecessor since 1999 and 2000, respectively. HCC said both men have held decisive roles HCC Global’s development.

Hervy supervised the international portfolio of business, leading the underwriting team. Vezio ran the claims department, and was actively involved in the drafting of international policy wordings. They will oversee all of HCC Global’s international business the Barcelona headquarters. In addition to Barcelona, HCC Global has offices in London and Miami.

“Thibaud and Philippe are two proven executives and recognised market leaders. We are very pleased that they have assumed their new responsibilities and have entered into long term employment contracts with the Company,” said HCC Insurance Holdings’ president and chief executive officer John Molbeck in a statement.

“Matt Fairfield has positioned HCC Global extremely well during his tenure and we wish him all the best in the future.”
