A close relationship between the Irish Insurance Federation (IIF) and the decision-makers in the State will be the theme of Tom Barry's presidency.
Barry, who was elected in May (2005), said: "In the last year we have seen a further increase in the level of activity, in particular in the number of consultation exercises, undertaken by the Financial Regulator.
"I know that the Regulator shares our objective of ensuring that there is a modern, efficient and above all balanced regulatory regime in force.
"Insurance companies will continue to develop this relationship and support the activities of the Financial Regulator to the benefit to insurers and their customers."
