Condon and Lomas given prison sentences

Michael Bright, Philip Condon and Dennis Lomas were given prison sentences this morning following their convictions this week on fraud charges connected to the collapse of Independent Insurance.

Former Independent boss Bright was sentenced to seven years on each of the two counts of conspiracy to defraud. They will run concurrently.

Lomas, the company's former finance director, was given four years in prison on each of the two conspiracy to defraud charges.

Condon, the former deputy managing director of the insurer, was sentenced to three years on the single count of conspiracy to defraud.

The judge said the three would serve half their sentences.
