Insurance Times has scooped three prizes at the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (Biba) Journalist of the Year Awards 2011.

Digital news editor Danny Walkinshaw won the highly contested online award beating off fierce competition from rival publications.

Walkinshaw was also highly commended in the best interview/profile award.

Deputy editor David Blackman landed the trade feature award.

Insurance Times and Global Reinsurance editor-in-chief Ellen Bennett said: “I am thrilled with these thoroughly deserved awards for the team.

“I am particularly pleased with the recognition of Danny’s groundbreaking work developing our digital presence, and David’s leadership of our Fair Fees campaign, highlighting the iniquity of general insurance brokers paying for the failure of credit brokers.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
