Call for Legal Services Board to investigate unfair contracts

The Legal Services Board should investigate contracts insurers try to impose of non-panel solicitors, a letter writer to the Law Society Gazette has demanded.

Howard Shelley said the contracts make “the average commercial lease look like The Dandy”. He said the terms “would have placed me in a situation where I would have been in breach of my duty to the client”.

“Whether you advocate or oppose referral fees (I am opposed), such unsavoury tactics must be addressed by the Legal Services Board,” he wrote.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
