Online SME comparative quote facility Iprism has signed its second broker network 1 Answer Network two weeks after announcing its first network tie-up with UKGI.

Iprism said it was currently in discussion with other potential network partners, with further announcements expected in the New Year.

The deal with 1 Answer Network allows members access to quotes from more than 10 insurers for standard commercial risks.

Iprism chief executive Gary Burke said: “Networks were an obvious target for us. We are not a threat to them; it is just really the access to markets.”

He also said Iprism was is a “viable alternative” for small brokers which did not want to lose their independence by joining a network.

The underwriting agency wants to create a ‘one-stop shop’ for brokers which want access to different markets.

Burke said: “It offers them another string to their bow and another choice.

“There are quite a lot of brokers with an ageing perception and which want to remain independent.”

The online SME compar-ative quote facility currently has 100 brokers on its book, and wants to reach 1,000 by the end of 2008 and write over £100m of business annually.
