Rehabilitation specialist IPRS is to launch a before-the-event (BTE) physiotherapy product, which it claims is the first of its kind.

Injury Solutions will be sold through brokers and is primarily aimed at employers.

It will provide employees with access to physiotherapy sessions following injury and will cover the cost of treatment.

IPRS sales and marketing director Cathie Bruce said that the product had been developed in response to calls for a managed solution to help employers and, ultimately, insurers deal with forthcoming legislation relating to the recovery of treatment costs.

The Health and Social Care (Community Health and Standards) Bill proposes to require employers to pay the costs borne by the HNS of treating injured employees. It is set to become law in November.

"The product will give employers more control of their costs," said Bruce

Bruce added that the product would also be suitable for any groups wishing to access rehabilitation services, such as amateur sports associations and affinity groups.

Injury Solutions is underwritten by Temple Legal Protection and will be available from 24 May.
