ABI boss’s grasp of technical issues worried ABI board

Kerrie Kelly fell out with the Association of British Insurers’ (ABI) board and would have been ousted if she had not tendered her resignation last Wednesday, the Mail on Sunday reports.

“She wasn't focused enough,” an anonymous board member told the Mail. “As an industry, there's a lot to do and we want and need someone to drive this through. Kelly, unfortunately, wasn't delivering. Some of the issues we were talking about were quite technical and she didn't appear to pick it up.”

The ABI said last week that Kelly stepped down for personal reasons.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
