Liberty Syndicates hires new team to target UK and Irish motor

Liberty Syndicates is to enter the UK and Irish motor insurance markets after hiring of a team of motor underwriters from Jubilee Motor.

Julian Cashen and Justin Suttle will join Liberty as class underwriter and deputy class underwriter respectively later this year together with a small team of motor specialists.

Last month, Jubilee hired John Shepherd as its new head of motor, replacing Cashen.

The new motor team will underwrite coach fleets and small commercial fleets in the UK as well as niche personal lines products.

Liberty Syndicates’ chief executive Nick Metcalf, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Julian, Justin and the rest of the specialist motor team to Liberty Syndicates.

"With our strong emphasis on international property, contingent lines and marine, motor is an excellent addition to our underwriting footprint and spreads our risk accordingly.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
