Lloyd’s insurers aim to bolster their relationships with Scandinavia’s energy, transport and property industries by employing a Nordic area manager.

Erik Börjesson, a broker for 16 years, will be based in Stockholm and will help Lloyd’s syndicates and managing agents to build relationships with insurance buyers and intermediaries in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

Lloyd’s reported more than $600m (£407m) of gross premiums in the Nordic region in 2007, with more than half originating in Norway. It said that the region presented many niche opportunities for its market.
