Lloyd’s broker Clegg Gifford has outsourced its entire first notification of loss (FNOL) function to Manchester-based legal protection firm ALPS.

ALPS, which has a strong presence in motor claims solutions and won the 2012 Insurance Times Service Provider of the Year award, will deal with all of Clegg Gifford’s motor claims across both personal and commercial lines.

The firm has also been announced as a delegated authority of Tradex, one of Clegg Gifford’s insurer partners.

ALPS managing director Lee Riley said: “The agreement is a significant deal for ALPS that will see us grow our claims volumes significantly.

“As a result we have made further investment in our claims team to ensure that we continue to provide the same high levels of service to all our clients.”

This move follows Clegg Gifford’s acquisition of broker Westminster last month, which doubled its gross written premium to £70m.

Clegg Gifford director Toby Clegg added: “We expect that outsourcing our FNOL to ALPS will improve loss ratios and reduce settlement times, which will greatly improve the efficiency of the claims process.

“Speed of settlement and the service our customers receive is of paramount importance to us.”
