Lloyd’s wants to cancel an insurance policy that covered Michael Jackson’s This Is It tour in April 2009, claiming that the pop star’s concert promoters withheld medical information.

Lloyd’s went to court on Monday over its refusal to pay out on a non-appearance and cancellation policy.

It claims that promoters AEG Live failed to provide necessary medical information and details about the physician charged with the singer's death, according to the Associated Press.

Lloyd's issued the policy around two months before Jackson died, using the alias ‘Mark Jones.’ The policy was designed to cover up to $17.5m in liability.

The promoter should have told Lloyd's more about the singer's medical history, "including but not limited to, his apparent prescription drug use and/or drug addiction," according to the lawsuit.

Lloyd's lawsuit states that is has been asking AEG for more information about Jackson and his physician, Dr Conrad Murray, since December 2009. Murray is set to go on trial later this year for involuntary manslaughter in connection with Jackson's death. He has pleaded not guilty.
