Lloyd's has finally appointed a permanent replacement for its head of run-off.

Steve McCann will become Lloyd's head of run-off, overseeing all Lloyd's syndicates. It is understood he will start in June.

McCann will take on the full-time role, replacing acting head of claims Duncan Williamson, who took up a short-term contract before Christmas last year.

He took on the role after Sarah Wilton left in early 2003 after working at Lloyd's for over 20 years.

McCann will join from Horizon Portfolio Manage-ment, where he was claims director, working from Horizon's office in the London Underwriting Centre.

He has more than 20 years' experience in the London Market in senior claims and finance positions.

He joined Horizon from CGNU (now Aviva), where he was London Market finance director.

McCann will report directly to head of reinsurance and claims at Lloyd's, Jeremy Pinchin.

It is understood he will help co-ordinate the results from the franchise board's claims strategy review.
