Lloyd's Market Association members can access police information

The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA), which provides professional, technical support to the Lloyd’s underwriting community, and the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), have negotiated an agreement for the exchange of information where fraudulent activity regarding insurance claims is suspected.

The agreement - effective from 1 October 2009 - is available to participating LMA members that underwrite UK property, liability, motor, personal accident, travel, life and health insurance.

David Gittings, Chief Executive at LMA, said: “Suspected claims fraud costs the UK insurance industry a considerable sum of money every year and as such is a serious issue. This agreement demonstrates the commitment of the Lloyd’s community to combat insurance fraud.”

Chief Constable Keith Bristow, ACPO Head of Crime, said: “This agreement provides guidance on the exchange of information for insurers and the police service, and puts us both in a better position to fight fraud and reduce criminal activity.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
