Terry O’Neill has stepped down as a non-executive director of Arthur J Gallagher’s UK-based international business after almost nine years on the board.

He was also chairman of the company’s risk committee.

Insurance Times understands O’Neill’s departure was expected. The company is in the process of recruiting a replacement.

O’Neill sat on the boards of three of Gallagher’s UK-regulated entities until 31 December 2014.

He had been a director of Arthur J Gallagher (UK) since March 2006.

O’Neill also joined the board of managing general agency OIM after Gallagher acquired it in September 2008 and Heath Lambert Ltd after Gallagher bought the broker in May 2011.

O’Neill remains a non-executive director of insurer Montpelier at Lloyd’s and works as a consultant for law firm Clifford Chance, where he was a partner until his retirement in 2007.
