As many as half a million homebuyers are being stung by up to £1,100 due to unwanted insurance policies, according to a survey by Mirror Money.
It shows that most of the top ten mortgage firms insist on mortgage indemnity gurantees (MIGs). So far the only major lenders to scrap MIGs following campaigning are Nationwide, Bradford & Bingley and Cheltenham & Gloucester.
