Former Thomas, Carroll managing director Stuart Love has officially joined Perkins Slade as Board director with responsibility for its sports division.

Insurance Times reported in September that Love was working on a two-month project with Perkins Slade after resigning from Wales-based broker Thomas, Carroll in August.

Perkins Slade has now confirmed that Love will join on a permanent basis as part of its new management structure following the decision by Wayne Robertson, Director of Sport, to retire in early 2007.

Perkins Slade, chief executive, David Slade, said: “The Sports team have grown dramatically over recent years, reflecting its success and it is an appropriate time to strengthen the leadership of the team. I am delighted to welcome Stuart Love to the company. With his outstanding track record and industry reputation he is the ideal person to lead the team in the continued attainment of its ambitious goals.”

Richard Doubleday has also been appointed chairman of Perkins Slade's sports division, and will be responsible for client and business development strategy and relationships with the wider sports community

Doubleday said: “With the further expansion we are planning, the demands on the leadership of the Sports team grow ever more complex and Stuart will ensure that we can meet the challenges ahead.”

Slade paid tribute to retiring Robertson, who has been a business partner at the independent broker for more than 20 years.
