New delegated property division created

Markel International has restructured its property division.

The insurer is splitting its current non-marine property division along sector lines.

A new division, called delegated property, has been created while the property open market team has transferred to Markel International's specialty division.

Bill Pondrom has been appointed as the divisional managing director of the delegated property division.

He was previously a regional director of underwriting and production within Markel Corporation, the parent body of Markel International.

Pondrom is supported by Gabrielle Griffith, Julie Game, Kevin Cronk, Warren Towner and Christina Emery. A new appointment is set to join shortly, Markel said.

The open market team, now within the specialty division, includes Adrian Giles, Emma Brown, Tamsin Cracknell and Asma Amin.

They will report to Robin Ungless and Wayne Paternoster, the joint managing directors of the specialty division.

Markel International's director of underwriting Jeremy Brazil said: "The reorganisation significantly rationalises our approach to property business and will enable us to offer a more keenly focused service to brokers."
