Loss adjuster McLarens prepares to open a new HNW division in January and hires two members of its senior team from Cunningham Lindsey

Loss adjuster, McLarens will look to beef up its presence in the high net worth (HNW) loss adjusting space with the launch of McLarens Private Clients in January 2018. McLarens has drafted in two former Cunningham Lindsey HNW big hitters to lead the new division.

The new division will employ 14 staff and will be led by Tim Carpenter, who leaves Cunningham Lindsey to take on the new role.

Carpenter has worked in adjusting since 1989 and worked to set up Cunningham Lindsey’s private client services team. His specialisms are HNW and major loss domestic claims. Carpenter is also a committee member of the CILA High Net Worth Special Interest Group.

Carpenter commented: “McLarens is known for marrying technical expertise with a practitioner-led approach in niche markets. This very much chimes with mine and Mike’s approach and, crucially, with what HNW brokers and underwriters are looking for from their adjusters. We’re delighted to be part of the team!”

Joining Carpenter will be technical manager Mike Hurry, who also leaves rival firm, Cunningham Lindsey.

McLarens is already active in the HNW space. It will aim to draw on resources from 2013 acquisition Agrical, a specialist agricultural adjuster and provider of loss adjusting services to rural estates, and from within McLarens to offer a breadth of coverage across the UK, Ireland and overseas.

McLarens managing director, UK & Europe Graham Smart commented: “This is a highly specialist segment of the market and one where we have long seen the potential for growth. We have a wealth of HNW expertise across our UK operation and with Tim and Mike at the helm, I’m confident that we can become one of the leading players in the UK. They’re both recognised as true leaders within their field and their arrival at McLarens has prompted a tremendous response from clients.”
