Specialist MGA offers SMEs zero excess option on cyber cover

Specialist managing general agent Ascent Underwriting is aiming to attract SMEs to buy its cyber cover by offering the product without an excess/deductible.

This means the insured will not be asked to contribute to pay a portion of the claim.

The zero excess option on the cyber cover will be available to all new and renewal SME clients that opt to use Ascent’s panel of service vendors in the event of a claim.

Ascent chief underwriting officer Gareth Tungatt said: “Ascent has built significant data sets regarding the management of claims during the last five years.

“Offering clients nil deductible policies and access to our expert partner vendors ensures they incur zero cost at the point of claim, while receiving the best possible advice that allows claims incidents to be closed down as swiftly as possible.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
