The Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) has appointed Mohammed Hemani as head of customer services.

Hemani will oversee all of the bureau’s customer services, including claims operations. He will also manage the MIB’s counter-fraud team.

He takes up his role with immediate effect. Hemani has been the MIB’s chief accountant since 2001, and joined from publishing firm Reed Elsevier.

MIB chief executive Ashton West said: “”Providing first-class customer service is at the heart of everything that we do, particularly when supporting accident victims with access to rehabilitation and compensation. Mohammed will continue to drive continuous improvements in the bureau’s customer service operations.”

According to an MIB statement, the bureau settled nearly 50,000 claims and prevented more than £14m worth of claims fraud in 2012.
