Software giant Misys and Wrightway Underwriting have teamed up to develop a broker-based quotation system in Ireland.

The electronic data interchange (EDI) system, which is to be piloted at the end of the year, will enable broker access to Wrightway's motor and light commercial policies. Misys said the pilot would lead to a full cycle processing system.

Misys general insurance chief executive officer Phillip Bell said: "By enabling Wrightway to move towards full cycle EDI capability, it will not only be able to work more effectively and become more profitable, but will gain competitive advantage.

"The importance of IT for brokers and insurers is undeniable and the correct choice of supplier and solution is critical."

Wrightway group operations director Breda Wright said: "It's vital to take advantage of IT solutions that allow your business to move forward and trade more efficiently. The Misys contract is a major deal for us."
