Misys has strongly denied industry rumour that the launch of I2i-link will be delayed due to lack of industry participation.

Market sources had said the portal had not attracted any insurers other than the big six originally involved – Axa, Norwich Union, Allianz Cornhill, Royal & Sunalliance, Zurich and Groupama.

Sources said the six were holding back part of their funding due to the lack of interest. Misys originally said it had invited 16 other insurers to take part.

However, I2i consultant Ian Danby said the portal may be released even earlier than its scheduled July launch date.

“It's the same as with any other commercial venture, people will release money as the project goes forward,” Danby said. “We're firing ahead.”

He said representatives of the six insurers were attending and speaking at the Misys roadshows recently.

However, Danby did not name any new insurers who have joined.

“We've got 65% of the general insurance market as founder insurers but we'd be delighted if other insurers wanted to join,” he said.
