Fearn to remain with newly rebranded UK insurer

Garry Fearn MMA Covea

MMA Insurance chief executive Garry Fearn is to remain with the company as executive deputy chairman of Covéa Insurance.

Fearn’s future at the insurer had been up in the air after parent company Covea merged MMA with Provident Insurance and chose Provident boss James Reader as its chief executive of the new entity, Covéa Insurance.

In a statement, Covea said Fearn will be reporting to and working closely with the chairman and board from September.

Chairman Graham Doswell said: “Garry is one of the UK general insurance market’s longest serving chief executives. The board joins me in thanking him for his leadership and for his major contribution to the first class track record achieved by MMA Insurance during his tenure.

“Being able to retain Garry’s experience and expertise in the role of executive deputy chairman will be beneficial to Covéa Insurance during an exciting period of change and growth across its UK operations.”

French insurer Covea acquired Provident in to its UK portfolio, which also includes high street broker Swinton, last April.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
