Insurer hires Gary Clayton and promotes Paul Atkinson

Appointment

MMA Insurance has hired former QBE underwriter Gary Clayton as senior motor trade underwriter for the south of the UK.

The insurer has also promoted Paul Atkinson to senior motor trade underwriter for the north of the country.

Clayton will be based in MMA’s office providing underwriting and account development alongside colleagues in the MMA southern regional offices.

While at QBE, Clayton was responsible for developing specific motor trade products, underwriting and broker development. He has also worked at Highway Insurance and has held roles at local brokers.

Atkinson will be based in Manchester to support the underwriting and business development teams across the Northern MMA offices.

Both will be with developing new and existing broker relationships working across all MMA’s motor trade products: road risks, internal risks and motor trade combined.

MMA commercial underwriting director Paul Hodgson said: “I am delighted to bring Gary into our organisation and congratulate Paul on his promotion to senior motor trade underwriter. Paul and Gary will undertake critical new broker-facing roles for us as we continue to enhance our service across the country and increase our capabilities in the commercial motor trade arena.

“We continue to build our regional underwriting teams with the objective of ensuring our broker partners know where our targeted customer groups are and we bring quality solutions to the market to help them in these areas. Gary and Paul are key to the next stage of our broker development.”
