Rumours of a US acquisition nipped in the bud

Aviva’s chief executive, Andrew Moss, denied rumours of a US aquisition in a meeting with house broker Morgan Stanley, the FT reports.

“We think that market concerns Aviva may look to make a material US acquisition are misplaced,” said Morgan Stanley. “Andrew gave a very clear message that the dividend would be prioritised over M&A.”

Aviva closed down 0.7% at 368¾p.
