The digital expert described his new job role as ‘the perfect fit’

After a five-year stint at IT and business consulting firm CGI, Paul Wishman, the firm’s current vice-president consulting expert, is moving to software business EIS to become its new senior alliance director for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

In his new role, which is effective from 4 April 2022, Wishman will look to expand EIS’ presence across EMEA and the UK.

To date, the firm has centred its operations around the north American market, however it is now seeking to grow its geographical reach – a task that Wishman will spearhead.

Wishman told Insurance Times that his latest career move is right in his wheelhouse due to the “startup mentality” that EIS has.

He continued: “When considering my next move, I was truly impressed with how EIS is able to help established players modernise their core systems with digital first capabilities, [to support] customer-centred products and service innovation.

“I was keen to join a company [that] has the potential to reshape the industry for the coming decades and with its application programming interface driven open architecture and proven ability to launch products faster to boost revenue channels and bring about the optimal customer experience, EIS feels like the perfect fit.”

Having an impact

Wishman has worked in the insurance industry for the past 28 years.

During his career so far, he has worked as digital and business strategy advisor at broker Swinton Insurance, group digital director at LV=, online director at insurer Esure and head of business systems at software development firm Insurecom – now known as Applied Systems.

He started working in the insurance sector back in 1994 at Sphere Drake Insurance.

Although typically attracted to positions at startups, Wishman joined CGI in May 2017 because he liked the idea of taking on a global role. He always knew, however, that he would be ready for a new challenge after four or five years in situ at the IT firm.

He said: “I’m thrilled to be joining EIS, which is already making a real impact in what is becoming a fast-changing industry.

“I’m looking forward to joining a great team where I can leverage my global digital insurance expertise and build critical relationships across global system integrators, insurers and the wider insurtech ecosystem.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
