Clear Group co-founder Howard Lickens is retiring at the end of 2025.

Lickens founded the business with Gary O’Donnell and has helped shape Clear Group since its formation in 2001.
After many years as chief executive, Lickens then became executive chairman with responsibility for the broker’s M&A programme and relationships with carriers.
“It has been an incredible journey since 2001,” Lickens said.
”Watching Clear Group grow and succeed has been a privilege and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together.
”While I will miss the day-to-day involvement, I look forward to seeing Clear Group continue to flourish in the years ahead.”
’End of an era’
Lickens may continue to support Clear Group in certain activities from time to time.

However, Clear Group said his reitrement ”marks the end of an era for the group”.
Mike Edgeley, group chief executive, said: “Lickens’ contribution to Clear Group cannot be overstated.
“From the very beginning, his passion and commitment have helped transform Clear Group from a startup into a leading player in the market. On behalf of everyone at Clear Group, I want to thank him for his extraordinary dedication and wish him all the very best for the future.”

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
