’Our newest location provides an exciting opportunity for us to expand our local offering to clients, says regional managing director
Howden has expanded its UK presence by opening a new office in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.
The office, which is part of the corporate and commercial division, will service businesses of all sizes and sectors.
The latest location marks the third office opening for the broker in the last year, with locations in Milton Keynes and Birmingham having also been announced.
Alistair Matthews, regional managing director for South and Thames Valley, corporate and commercial at Howden UK and Ireland, said: ”Our newest location provides an exciting opportunity for us to expand our local offering to clients and for individuals with a wealth of insurance experience or a passion for the industry to join our team.
“We’re ready to speak with budding and established talent who’d like to be part of the largest UK insurance broker and one of the top five employee-owned businesses in the country by headcount.”
Appointment
The office comes following the appointment of Joe Clarke as branch director.

Clarke brings more than 14 years of insurance experience to his new role at Howden, following roles at Green Insurance Group, Sutton Winson and NFU Mutual.
Matthews said: “I’m thrilled that Clarke has agreed to join us and will help us establish and write our story in West Sussex.”

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
