Stephen Taylor, head of commercial at Superscript, describes why the business deserves a trophy in the Commercial Lines Broker of the Year category at 2025’s Insurance Times Awards
1. Why did you decide to enter the Commercial Lines Broker of the Year category?
At Superscript, we believe every business – from micro to multinational – should be able to get the right cover, designed to suit its needs.
Enabled by our technology and powered by our people, we are building the UK’s most customer focused, data led insurance business – reshaping how insurance is bought, setting new standards for service and delivering real value for our partners and customers.

With a digital first setup and deep product know-how, we have built our business to keep pace with modern SME needs – from fast growth startups to complex landlords and all the businesses in between.
2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why do you think your firm should win this award?
Our entry stands out because we have managed to grow quickly and keep our service levels high, which is not easy in the current market.
Our unique approach to developing market-leading insurance products and customer outcomes combines deep underwriting experience with real-time data insight.
By working closely with our insurance carriers and distribution partners, we have designed and delivered high performing commercial insurance products that genuinely work for SMEs.
As a digital broker operating in a traditional industry, our underwriting agility and the strong relationships we’ve built in the insurance market mean we can respond quickly to the ever-changing market trends and evolving customer needs across the SME landscape.
3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
We’re on course to achieve Superscript’s bold vision to become the go-to digital broker for businesses in the UK.
Being recognised as an Insurance Times Awards winning broker would underline just how close we are to that goal – and shine a light on the hard work our team, working together with our insurance partners, has put into building better commercial insurance for businesses.
This encompasses seamless digital quoting right through to a more human claims experience.
