Christopher Barclay, chief executive at Superscript, speaks on his firm’s entry to the Digital Broker of the Year category

1. Why did you put yourselves forward for the category?

We’re reimagining what a commercial insurance broker can be. Superscript was built digital-first from day one – not a traditional broker with a digital add-on.

By being powered by people and enabled by tech, we break down commercial insurance so customers can pick the cover they need and skip what they don’t. From self-serve policies to real-time AI support, we’re making business insurance more intuitive, inclusive and accessible – for every kind of business.

2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

We’ve not just digitised insurance, we’ve rebuilt it. Our Real Time Scorer is a standout example – launched in just three months, it analyses customer behaviour in milliseconds and boosts same-day purchase rates to 90%.

Our breadth of capability, from clever tech and sharp customer insight to ‘excellent’ rated customer support and claims service, is driving serious growth – 50% revenue uplift year-on-year – while helping more businesses get the cover they actually need.

3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Being recognised as an Insurance Times award winner would show that thoughtful tech, built with people in mind, can rewrite the rules in even the most traditional industries.

We’re well on track to achieve Superscript’s bold vision to become the go-to digital broker in the UK.

Adding to previous award wins in 2024 and 2025, winning Digital Broker of the Year would be a fitting celebration of the work our team and our strategic partners have poured into making insurance faster, fairer and fit for the future – and proof that putting customers first is a winning strategy.
