Yasmin Berhardt, medical malpractice underwriter at Altea Insurance, speaks about her entry for the Insurance Times Young Achiever Award
1. Why did you put yourselves forward for this category?

The category represents an opportunity not only to showcase personal development, but the value of alternative pathways into insurance – myself having joined the industry on an apprenticeship scheme after A-levels.
It also highlights the incredibly supportive environment at Altea which has enabled me to grow and contribute meaningfully to our business.
I’m proud to be recognised as a young achiever and remain committed to further developing my technical abilities and influence within the industry.
2. What makes your entry stand out, and why should you win the award?
The entry demonstrates that my impact extends beyond day-to-day underwriting.
It highlights my work in creating Elevate, a network and learning community for young underwriters specialising in medical malpractice which is an initiative driven by my passion for the sector and supporting peers in similar positions.
The entry also featured glowing testimonials from my broker partners who gave their – very flattering – perspectives!
I was pleased to see that their feedback emphasised how they value our working relationships and the strong foundation of knowledge, trust and responsiveness that is so core to the Altea ethos.
3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
From a personal perspective, it would be an honour to be commended as the Insurance Times Young Achiever.
It would be a truly meaningful milestone in my career, validating the hard work and dedication I’ve invested and a well-deserved accolade for the whole Altea team.
Altea’s culture has allowed me to stretch my potential, take on meaningful responsibilities and contribute in ways that genuinely matter.
This award would reflect both my professional and personal progression and the environment that has made it possible.
