Michael Reynolds, director of motor fleet underwriting at HDI UK and Ireland, explains his firm’s entry to the Excellence in Technology – Insurer category
1. Why did you put yourselves forward for the category?

We entered the Excellence in Technology category because the HDI UK and Ireland motor fleet portal demonstrates how technology can deliver meaningful improvements for customers.
Developed in-house, the portal brings together fleet risk management, claims analysis, driver training and reporting in one secure environment.
It replaces a fragmented experience with a single platform that gives fleet managers clearer insights, reduces administration and supports faster, more informed decisions.
We believe it is a strong example of technology being used not simply to digitise processes, but to create safer and more efficient fleet operations.
2. What makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?
What makes our entry stand out is the way the portal combines innovative technology with specialist fleet risk expertise.
Rather than simply presenting data or storing documents, it brings together behavioural analytics, claims intelligence, targeted training and operational reporting in one accessible platform.
This enables customers to identify emerging risks, take preventative action and make more informed decisions.
We believe the portal deserves to win because it delivers meaningful operational and educational benefits, while strengthening collaboration between insurer, broker and customer and supporting a more proactive approach to fleet safety and risk management.
3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
Winning would be a significant recognition of the collaboration, expertise and innovation behind the motor fleet portal.
It would celebrate the work of our motor risk and data analytics teams, whose combined knowledge helped turn customer needs into a practical, evolving solution.
For HDI UK and Ireland, the award would reinforce our commitment to investing in technology that delivers real value beyond the insurance policy, helping customers manage risk more proactively.
It would also provide valuable external recognition of our ambition to improve safety, efficiency and operational performance through meaningful digital innovation.
