’The risks our clients face don’t begin in the insurance market, they begin in the world around us,’ says president
Starr has partnered with media company Goalhanger to launch a new executive thought leadership series examining the geopolitical risks shaping businesses and insurance markets.

The initiative, called The Risk Briefing, will bring together insurance professionals, clients and business leaders to discuss global political, economic and societal developments and their impact on risk.
Hosted at Lloyd’s of London, the invitation-only series has been created exclusively for Starr’s brokers, clients and partners. The inaugural event will take place on 24 September, with further sessions planned during 2027.
The programme has been developed in collaboration with The Rest Is Politics and The Rest Is Politics US and will feature political commentators, journalists and subject matter experts from across Goalhanger’s network.
Starr said the series reflects growing demand from businesses seeking to understand the wider geopolitical forces influencing their risk environment, including international conflict, economic uncertainty and changing global power dynamics.
Stuart Scott, president of UK and EME at Starr, said: “The risks our clients face don’t begin in the insurance market, they begin in the world around us. Understanding those forces, considering different perspectives and forming a clear view of what they mean is fundamental to great underwriting and decision-making.
”Through our partnership with The Rest Is Politics, The Risk Briefing will bring those perspectives into the room, creating a forum for informed discussion around the issues shaping our clients’ businesses and the risks they face.”
’Natural extension’
Goalhanger, which was co-founded by the former England footballer Gary Lineker, had its programmes streamed more than 750 million times in 2025.

For the latest initiative, each event has been designed as a closed-door, off-the-record forum for the insurance market, with guests able to attend live at Lloyd’s or join globally online.
Tom Whiter, general manager for politics and current affairs at Goalhanger, said: “The Risk Briefing is a natural extension of what Goalhanger does every day through our podcasts, helping audiences understand the political and geopolitical forces shaping the world around them.
”Partnering with Starr allows us to bring those conversations into the room with senior business leaders, creating an opportunity to explore the issues behind the headlines and what they mean for organisations making strategic decisions today.”
