’Their experience and perspectives will help to steer the LMA board,’ says chief executive

The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has announced that executives from two of its managing agents will be joining its board.

The appointees include Vivek Syal, chief underwriting officer at Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK), and John Owen, chief executive at Axis Managing Agency.

Syal will be taking over from Matthew Shaw as the TMK representative, while Owen will replace Mark Gregory, chief executive of Axis’ international division, ahead of his upcoming retirement.

Sheila Cameron, chief executive at the LMA, said: “I am pleased to welcome Syal and Owen to the LMA board.

“Their experience and perspectives will help to steer the LMA board as we continue to ensure the Lloyd’s market can solve our clients’ most complex risks.”

Retirement

Gregory is retiring after spending more than 50 years in the insurance industry.

He joined Axis in 2010 and has served as chief executive of its international division for just under 15 years.

Andrew Brooks, chairman at the LMA and non-executive director at Ascot Group, said: “I would like to thank Shaw and Gregory for their contributions during their tenure on the LMA board and wish Gregory the best in his retirement.”
