’As Bishop Street continues to scale its portfolio of MGAs it is critical that our underwriting technology scales with us,’ says chief executive

Bishop Street Underwriters has expanded its agreement with Kalepa to support London-based MGAs Avid Insurance Services and Landmark Underwriting.

The underwriting firm first partnered with artificial intelligence (AI)-powered platform Kalepa in 2024 to support underwriting quality and execution across its MGA operations.

Building on positive results from its initial deployment, Bishop Street Underwriters is expanding its use of Kalepa to support more of its businesses.

Bishop Street acquired Landmark in February 2025 and Avid later in the year in October.

Chad Levine, chief executive at Bishop Street Underwriters, said: “As Bishop Street Underwriters continues to scale its portfolio of MGAs it is critical that our underwriting technology scales with us.

“Kalepa has delivered significant value for Bishop Street Underwriters and expanding the platform to Avid and Landmark allows us to extend that success – bringing greater accuracy, efficiency and underwriting discipline across our businesses as we grow.”

Bolstering growth

Both MGAs will leverage Kalepa to bring greater speed and profitability to underwriting decisions by surfacing risk-critical insights and delivering a clearer, decision-ready view of each submission.

Avid specialises in niche UK classes including construction, social housing and leasehold and equine.

Meanwhile, Landmark focuses on professional indemnity, directors and officers, property, political violence and terrorism, general liability and marine risks, which is written through its London hub for policyholders across the globe.

Daniel Hillman, chief operating officer at Kalepa, said: “It has been a pleasure partnering with the Bishop Street team to help them grow gross written premium while maintaining underwriting discipline.

“We look forward to replicating that success with Avid and Landmark by equipping their underwriters with the insights needed to make consistently strong decisions across their international operations.”
