Walsh left Google last month after four years with the business

Nigel Walsh has announced his next career move after stepping down as Google Cloud’s global head of insurance.

Walsh joined in Google in 2021 as managing director of insurance, before being promoted to his most recent role at the giant in February 2024.

He announced his departure from the firm in January 2025 in a post on LinkedIn. In another post yesterday (19 February), Walsh revealed he would become the global head of insurance at ServiceNow.

ServiceNow uses a cloud-based platform to help businesses improve and automate workflows.

Speaking about taking up his new role, Walsh said: “Super excited to share I have joined the team at ServiceNow to lead global insurance.

“I’ve been hearing the same challenges and ambitions from customers for a while. ServiceNow for me is in a perfect position – already trusted by 100’s of insurers globally, is cloud agnostic, our recent CRM announcement and importantly our focus on agents and agentic artificial intelligence (AI).

“How we, along with our partner ecosystem, apply this to the business of insurance, from process and workflow optimisation to underwriting and claims and start to address the complex messy middle, is just the beginning.”

Experience

Before joining Google, Walsh was a partner at Deloitte, leading technology transformation initiatives.

Earlier in his career, he worked at accelerator Startupbootcamp as a mentor in October 2015. He was also the vice president and head of UK insurance at Capgemini, where he built and developed the company’s UK insurance operation.

Walsh was also shortlisted alongside seven other candidates for the Insurance Times Technology Champion of the Year 2023 award.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
