Lloyd's broker Oamps Special Risks has snapped up the Life Sciences business from Giles, Insurance Times understands.

Former Giles head of life sciences David Baker has joined Oamps as associate director along with a small team of staff.

He joins former Giles retail managing director and board member, Howard Pearson, who joined Oamps' UK operation as divisional broking director, last month.

Giles said in April that it was preparing to sell its Orpington-based life sciences business as it was a "non-core" part of the business.

Oamps Special Risks is the Lloyd's Broking Arm of Oamps UK, part of Australian firm Wesfarmers.

Oamps and Giles could not be reached for comment.
