Mystery blogger Sid ponders the recent moves of the industry’s coiffeured heads

I have to say, I’m not surprised to see the return of two well-styled haircuts back in the market. Lord Sheikh, a bit of a mover according to the tabloids, is back with a new broking outfit and a shariah-compliant adviser for the Muslim community, and I wish him well. Meanwhile, grey panther Martin Sullivan joins another notable hairstyle in Joe Plumeri at Willis. Why do our business leaders have such funny barnets, I have to wonder?

I notice too that another old lag, Chris Hanks, kind of implies that he’s not leaving Allianz any time soon, while Peter Cullum passes his 60th birthday and carries on regardless. As I know only too well, you have to quit while you’re at the top, which is advice my old friend Paul Meehan ought to consider, rather than take on the unenviable job of sorting out the confusion that is AXA Commercial.

Which reminds me, Philip Condon is unemployed at the moment, and Michael Bright must be out sometime soon. I suggest a Quinn UK rescue – what fun that would be.

You have to let go I suppose, so it’s back to Cash in the Attic and Countdown for me, then down to B&Q for a new stopcock. The current one is leaking and Mrs Sid is complaining that it’s keeping her up all night. She should be so lucky.
