Renewed terrorist activity is prompting some strange behaviour.

West Midlands Police recently blew up a man's car because of a suspicious package in its boot. The man had discovered the package on his doorstep. Suspecting the worst, he put it in the boot of his car and drove to the police tation.

The police force called in the bomb squad which carried out a controlled explosion, destroying most of the car. It later turned out, however, that the package was a bottle of aftershave from three female admirers.

To add to the man's woes, who had to explain the gift to his wife, his insurance does not cover damage resulting from a controlled explosion.
