Retail managing director David Hall will assume interim responsibility for motor

Exit, sign, leave, quit, resign

QBE Europe’s director of motor and retail business performance Talbir Bains has left after 10 years with the insurer.

Bains, who joined QBE in 2004, was handed responsibility for QBE’s commercial motor portfolio in May this year in addition to his existing responsibilities for reinsurance, performance and pricing within QBE’s retail division.

Bains is the latest in a line of recent departures from QBE Europe. Five senior managers, including UK national general manager Elliot Miller, left the insurer in October  after an overhaul by new retail managing director David Hall, who joined QBE at the beginning of this year from Aviva.

Hall will assume responsibility for QBE Europe’s motor portfolio until the company appoints a replacement for Bains.

Hall will be supported by middle market and SME director Matthew Crane and head of actuarial and management information Chris Drew, who QBE said have: “considerable knowledge and experience of our motor account”.

QBE said in a statement: “We can confirm that Talbir Bains, director of motor and business performance (Retail) has left QBE European Operations.

“We’d like to thank Talbir for his contribution to QBE and to wish him well for the future.”

In addition to Bains and the departures from Hall’s restructuring, QBE Europe was also hit by the surprise exit of property director Peter Fice in October.
