QBE has announced…

QBE has said it is to launch QBE PI following the announcement in December 2006 about its plans
to integrate the professional indemnity (PI) portfolios of QBE Insurance (Europe) [QIE] and DA Constable Syndicate 386 [386].

ABE said the team will be led by David Harries and has been created to “provide the most effective underwriting and claims management service, in line with the diversity of its client base.”

It added that “four underwriting units provide comprehensive insurance solutions across the spectrum of client sizes and buying preferences, each with a team of empowered individuals.”

These are:

  • Client Risk Solutions, led by Grant Clemence, specialising in developing bespoke insurance solutions for large enterprises
  • Broker Services, headed up by David Sawyer, specialising in the SME market
  • Regional, led by David Sawyer, focusing on the national network
  • Schemes, led by Mark Casady, catering for volume-driven business

Harries said: “In December, we set ourselves the ambitious target of 2nd April to launch QBE PI. I am delighted to say that we have delivered on this promise and have
created a formidable team of committed PI experts.

“Recognising the importance of the broker-underwriter relationship and the need to facilitate the underwriting of the market’s largest and most complex risks, brokers will still be able to select the underwriter they deal with. Importantly, each underwriter will be able to utilise the Lloyd’s stamp, company stamp or where required both stamps to their maximum capacity.
