Peter Burton joins QBE Marine & Energy operation

QBE European Operations has appointed Peter Burton as senior underwriter, QBE Marine & Energy Service in its recently established operation in Singapore.

Burton joins QBE following a ten-year period working for Marsh where he was a senior vice president responsible for their highly successful Offshore Energy Construction team.

He will relocate to Singapore from London in February where he will take over responsibility for the underwriting management of the specialist QBE Marine & Energy operation.

Operating under the Lloyd’s Asia license, QBE’s Marine & Energy division offers a broad spectrum of On-shore and Off-shore insurance products to the Asia-Pacific market.

Burton and the team in Singapore will continue to grow the business in this area but will also look to broaden the Syndicate’s product offering in the region as well as complementing the established local P&C presence QBE offers on its own paper.

Colin O’Farrell, managing director of QBE Marine & Energy Syndicate 1036, said: “Since its opening in April last year, the QBE Marine & Energy Singapore office has established a reputation among local brokers as a provider of expert advice and product leadership.

"Our specialist offering on Lloyd's paper has served to add value to the local market and to complement QBE's local underwriting in the region. We are delighted that Peter is joining our operation to further develop our business in what is an important market for QBE.”
