Today's Belfast Telegraph reports that Abbey National is to stop offering car insurance in Northern Ireland.

An Abbey National spokesman told the Belfast Telegraph: "Following a recent review we have had to change the insurers we use to underwrite our motor insurance policy." However the new panel of underwriters chosen do not offer cover in Northern Ireland.

Meanwhile in the Newcastle Evening Chronicle , the Federation of Small Business in the North-East warns that the region's small businesses are losing confidence in the economy. 70% of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) said that economic uncertainty is preventing them from meeting their objectives.
