Royal & SunAlliance has opened a Scottish branch of Enterprise – its new service centre for small businesses insurance.

The initiative, which was first launched in Birmingham six months ago, gives underwriters the authority to deliver quotes in under ten minutes and have policy documentation with the broker in 48 hours.

The Glasgow-based centre will offer shops, offices, vans, business and contractors policies, with further products developed.

Rod Innes will head the 17-strong team.

RSA UK Commercial claims it can reduce new policy handling time from 45 to 20 minutes.

"Launching an enterprise centre in Scotland will mean that brokers have access to an underwriter who understands the local market as well as offering an enhanced level of service," said Enterprise director Simon Cooter.

RSA is holding roadshows this month, visiting Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Inverness.
