Pitt will replace Gordon Hannah who is retiring at the end of the year

RSA claims director of UK and Western Europe is leaving to join Esure as its new chief operating officer in the fourth quarter of this year.

Pitt will replace Gordon Hannah who is retiring at the end of the year after ten years.

In his new role Pitt will oversee all operations and claims functions across the Esure Group and will report to chief executive Stuart Vann.

Vann said: “David will bring nearly three decades of general insurance experience to Esure. He has a wealth of knowledge of the sector that will be extremely valuable to us in today’s diverse and changing market. I very much look forward to working with him.”

“I would also like to pay tribute to our departing chief operating officer, Gordon Hannah, who will be missed by all of us at Esure - and indeed by many across an industry in which he has figured so significantly for nearly forty years.  Finding a successor was always going to be hard but we are delighted to have attracted someone of David’s calibre.”

Pitt added: “Esure is one of the UK’s largest and most dynamic private motor insurers and a growing force in home insurance too, so this is an exciting move for me. I’m looking forward to joining a forward-thinking team looking after some of the UK’s most recognised brands.”
