Legal protection company DAS has been upgraded to "A+" rating by ratings agency Standard & Poor's.

The rating upgrade to "A+" from "Api" comes soon after DAS opened its books to Standard & Poor's scrutiny.

DAS Managing Director Paul Asplin said: "Brokers and corporate partners will appreciate the importance of this endorsement of the company's financial status.

"We are of course delighted that in the currently volatile insurance market, DAS has not only had its credentials as a Top 50 insurer maintained, but substantially enhanced."

Standard & Poor's, credit analyst Wolfgang Rief said: "The ratings reflect the company's strategic importance to German based reinsurance and insurance group Munich Re (core companies of which are rated AA-) as well as its strong historic operating performance, strong and defendable business position in the niche LEI market, and good level of capitalisation.

"This stand-alone evaluation reflects Standard & Poor's expectation that overall financial and risk profiles will remain materially unchanged for DAS."
