Former Travelers manager joins firm’s property division

David Slade, Barbican

Barbican Group Holdings has appointed Slade underwriting manager in the firm’s property division, with immediate effect.

Slade, who was previously deputy head of global property at the Travelers syndicate based in London, will report to James Winn, active underwriter at Syndicate 6113.

He joined Travelers in 2009, following 11 years at Catlin, where he rose to the position of class underwriter in the firm’s property division, and began his insurance career as a broker at Sedgwick.

Winn said: “David brings to our property team a perfect balance of technical property underwriting expertise and the ability to maintain strong bonds with his clients. I am confident he will play a significant role in our efforts to develop and profitably grow the property insurance account at Barbican.”

Slade said: “I have always firmly believed that you can only achieve long-term, successful client relationships through regular contact and working in close partnership. Barbican is a company that works not only for, but with its clients and I look forward to helping strengthen existing relationships and build new ones as we look to expand and develop our standing in the property market.”
